Sri Lanka, Vietnam hold high-level bilateral talks to strengthen cooperation

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake held bilateral discussions this morning (08) with the President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, Tô Lâm, at the Presidential Secretariat.

During the meeting, President Dissanayake welcomed Viet Nam’s inclusion of Sri Lanka in President Tô Lâm’s first state visit to the South Asian region since assuming office, describing the visit as a significant milestone that reflects the longstanding friendship and close relations between the two nations.

President Dissanayake also congratulated President Tô Lâm on his reappointment as President of Viet Nam and as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, expressing confidence in Viet Nam’s continued progress and prosperity under his leadership.

The discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in several key sectors, including solar and wind energy, information technology, Artificial Intelligence, digital public infrastructure, defence cooperation, technology transfer, capacity building and post-harvest agricultural management.

The Sri Lankan President also commended Viet Nam’s transformation into a leading manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia and invited Vietnamese entrepreneurs to explore investment opportunities in Sri Lanka, particularly in renewable energy, logistics, infrastructure, tourism and manufacturing sectors.
