Warm Welcome Extended to President of Vietnam at Presidential Secretariat

The official welcome ceremony for the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Tô Lâm, who is on a State Visit to Sri Lanka at the invitation of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, was held this morning (08) at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of the Sri Lankan President.

President Tô Lâm is undertaking the State Visit with the objective of further strengthening economic, cultural and social relations between Vietnam and Sri Lanka.

Upon arrival at the Presidential Secretariat, President Tô Lâm was ceremonially escorted by the Police Mounted Division and warmly received by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Following the playing of the national anthems of both countries, the official welcome ceremony commenced.

President Tô Lâm was accorded full state honours, including a ceremonial gun salute.

Thereafter, President Tô Lâm and President Dissanayake inspected the tri-service guard of honour, following which members of the Sri Lankan and Vietnamese delegations were formally introduced.

The two leaders also posed for official photographs during the ceremony.

Representing the Sri Lankan Government at the occasion were Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath, Labour Minister and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Anil Jayantha Fernando, Science and Technology Minister Krishantha Abeysena, Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Minister Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, Environment Minister Dhammika Patabendi, Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananda Wijepala, Secretary to the President Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Defence Ministry Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd.), Foreign Ministry Secretary Aruni Ranaraja, along with senior officials from both countries.
