The Department of Immigration and Emigration Sri Lanka says special inspections will be conducted on individuals arriving in the country from nations associated with cybercrime activities.

Controller General of Immigration and Emigration Chaminda Pathiraja stated that authorities will closely monitor arrivals from countries where foreign nationals had previously been arrested in connection with cybercrime offences.

Officials at Bandaranaike International Airport will carry out checks to verify whether such individuals are entering Sri Lanka for legitimate tourism purposes.

The Controller General further stated that police and immigration officers are also conducting separate inspections involving tourists currently staying within the country.

He added that individuals arrested over cybercrime-related activities will be deported and subjected to legal action.
