According to foreign media reports, the decision was taken yesterday (May 7) following an investigation into corruption-related activities linked to betting during the 2025–26 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season.
Rahman, who represented the Chattogram Royals in the tournament, is accused of involvement in betting-related activities, leading to the severe disciplinary action.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has also reportedly suspended four other individuals connected to the same team as part of the ongoing anti-corruption investigation.
However, before the punishments are officially enforced, the accused parties have been granted a 14-day period from May 7 to respond to the allegations and present their explanations to the board.
