US President Donald Trump said he had “very good talks” with Iran, adding that “it’s very possible we’ll make a deal”.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, said a US proposal to end the war is still “under review”, and Tehran will convey its response to mediator Pakistan after “finalising its views”, according to Iran’s ISNA news agency. Aljazeera reported.

Israel bombed Beirut in an expansion of attacks on Lebanon and in the first strike on the Lebanese capital since a “ceasefire”, in name only, came into force on April 17.

Israeli forces have consistently violated the ceasefire with Lebanon and on Wednesday killed at least 13 people in attacks across the country, including claiming to have targeted a senior Hezbollah commander in a strike on Beirut.

Hamas has condemned Israel’s attacks on Gaza, calling the daily bombings and growing death toll a “blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement” and a continuation of Israel’s “war of extermination” in the Palestinian territory.
