Speaking to the media, the Minister said a nine-member committee has been appointed to lead the initiative and address existing challenges in the sport.
He noted that external support is also being sought, expressing confidence that current issues can be resolved and the past success of Sri Lankan cricket can be restored.
Gamage further said the government’s policy, “A Thriving Nation, A Beautiful Life,” recognises the importance of sports in enhancing quality of life, adding that developing sports is a key responsibility.
He emphasized that the government remains committed to fulfilling its pledge to strengthen and advance cricket in the country.
