Authorities have announced that all dansal (free food distribution stalls) organized for the Vesak festival must be officially registered, with a strong emphasis on maintaining public health and safety standards.

The Public Health Inspectors’ Union stated that the registration program begins today (May 4). According to Union Secretary Chamil Muthukuda, the process will be carried out through Medical Officer of Health (MOH) offices across the country.

The Ministry of Health has already issued a set of special health guidelines for conducting dansals. Organizers are advised to obtain detailed information and guidance from Public Health Inspectors to ensure compliance with these regulations.

This initiative aims to safeguard the health of the public during the Vesak season, when large numbers of people gather to participate in religious and charitable activities.
