In tribute to the late actress, who received her education and began her journey into cinema as a distinguished student of the school, the college’s main hall was renovated into a theatre and officially opened as the “Malini Fonseka Auditorium.” Additionally, a bust statue of the legendary actress was unveiled within the school premises.
The event was attended by members of Fonseka’s family, including Damayanthi Fonseka, Senali Fonseka, and Kushenya Fonseka, representing three generations. Several distinguished artists who are alumni of the school also participated, including Giriraj Kaushalya, Sriyani Mahawatte, Nadeesha Hemamali, Anura Srinath Hettiarachchi, Akash Tharuka Perera, Manoj Devage, and renowned musician Edward Jayakody, who once served as a music teacher at the college.
Organized collectively by the school’s Old Boys’ Association along with the principal, academic and non-academic staff, the event stood as a heartfelt and lasting tribute to the beloved icon of Sri Lankan cinema.
