Special Traffic Plan Announced Ahead of Maldivian President’s Sri Lanka Visit

Sri Lanka Police have announced a special traffic plan in anticipation of the official visit of , which is scheduled to take place from May 3 to May 6.

According to police authorities, the traffic arrangements will be implemented to ensure smooth transportation and security during the Maldivian President’s stay in the country. The plan will come into effect starting tomorrow evening (May 3), coinciding with the arrival of President Muizzu

Following his arrival, the President is expected to travel to Colombo via the Katunayake–Colombo Expressway. In response, police will temporarily restrict and manage traffic along key routes connected to the airport and expressway to facilitate the official motorcade.

To reduce inconvenience to the public, Sri Lanka Police have introduced several alternative routes for commuters. Motorists are advised to follow official traffic instructions and plan their journeys in advance, especially during peak hours and along affected roads.

Authorities emphasized that these measures are necessary to ensure both public safety and the smooth conduct of the high-level diplomatic visit.
