Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, along with family members and several political representatives, attended the event to pay their respects.
Floral tributes were laid at the statue during the ceremony.
Former President Ranasinghe Premadasa was assassinated in a suicide bombing while participating in a May Day rally procession.
