The advisory will remain valid until 11.30 PM today ( 01).
According to the Department, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and North-Central provinces, as well as in Vavuniya, Mullaittivu, Kilinochchi, Mannar, Kurunegala and Trincomalee districts in the evening.
The advisory further noted that temporary localized strong winds may also occur during thundershowers.
The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage and risks caused by lightning activity during the warning period.
