The department stated that fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm may occur at several locations in the Sabaragamuwa Province, Central Province, Uva Province and North Central Province.
Morning showers are also likely in coastal areas of the Western Province and Southern Province.
Misty conditions can be expected in some areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North Central and Uva provinces.
The public has been advised to take necessary precautions to reduce possible damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
