The annual Esala Maha Perahera of Bellanwila Raja Maha Viharaya is scheduled to take place from July 25 to August 16 this year. Recognized as one of the most prominent peraheras in Sri Lanka after the Kandy Esala Perahera, the event draws significant religious and cultural importance.
During the meeting, attention was focused on organizational arrangements and securing sponsorships for the festival. It was discussed that the event would be held with government support, subject to approval from the Treasury. Several state institutions are expected to provide financial assistance, including the Department of Public Trustee, Bank of Ceylon, People's Bank, National Savings Bank, Development Lotteries Board, National Lotteries Board, Sri Lanka Telecom, Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka, and Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.
The discussion was attended by Chief Incumbent Ven. Bellanwila Dhammarathana Thera, Viharadikari Ven. Bellanwila Sangharathana Thera, Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage, Member of Parliament Lakshman Nipuna Arachchi, and several members of the perahera organizing committee and local government representatives.
