In line with International Workers' Day, which falls tomorrow (May 1), extensive preparations have been made across Sri Lanka to mark the occasion with parades, rallies, and various commemorative events.

According to police authorities, large-scale May Day processions and meetings will primarily be centered in Colombo, while additional events organized by different institutions and groups are set to take place in multiple regions throughout the island.

To ensure that all events are conducted peacefully and safely, the police have implemented a comprehensive security and traffic management plan. This includes special arrangements for crowd control, road safety, and maintaining the smooth flow of regular traffic. All police stations have been instructed accordingly, the Police Media Division stated.

Furthermore, Senior Deputy Inspectors General in charge of provinces have been directed by the Inspector General of Police to oversee and implement necessary measures for May Day events taking place outside Colombo.

Several major rallies and processions organized by political parties and trade unions are scheduled to take place in and around Colombo, with specific routes and venues designated for each event. Authorities urge the public to cooperate with traffic regulations and security arrangements during the celebrations.
