As part of the decision-making process, public consultations on the special tariff revision proposal for 2026 officially commence today (April 29). The Commission stated that these consultations aim to gather feedback from consumers and stakeholders before finalizing any adjustments.
The proposed revision follows a submission by the National System Operator (Pvt) Ltd., which provided updated cost estimates for electricity generation covering the second and third quarters of 2026. This submission, made on April 27, reflects increased generation costs largely driven by rising global fuel prices.
In response, the PUCSL determined that a public consultation process is necessary to ensure transparency and allow for public input on the potential tariff changes.
