Sirisumana Godage, the esteemed founder of Godage Publications and a towering figure in Sri Lanka’s literary landscape, has passed away at the age of 90.

Widely respected for his lifelong dedication to promoting Sinhala literature and supporting local authors, Godage played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s publishing industry. Through Godage Publications, he provided a platform for countless writers, helping to bring Sri Lankan stories, scholarship, and cultural works to a broader audience.

In recognition of his invaluable service to society and the literary community, he was conferred with the prestigious Deshabandu title in 2003.
