Sri Lanka athletics team returns home with Medals from Asian Beach Games

Sri Lanka’s athletics team returned home in triumph after an impressive performance at the Sixth Asian Beach Games held in China, bringing pride to the nation with a total of four medals.

The team secured one silver medal and three bronze medals in the athletics category. أبرز among the achievements was Ishara Samanmali, who won the silver medal in the women’s long jump event. This marks a historic milestone, as it is Sri Lanka’s first-ever silver medal in athletics at the Asian Beach Games.

In addition, Shashikala Lankatilaka and Sampath Miranda each claimed bronze medals in long jump events. The men’s relay team, comprising Manusha Prabhash, Malith Kamil, Malith Tarushan, and Sandun Diyalawatta, also contributed to the medal tally by winning a bronze medal.

The victorious athletes arrived back in the country via Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake, where they received a warm welcome. Among those present to greet them was the Director General of the Department of Sports Development, S. Achchuthan, along with other officials.

Their achievement highlights the growing strength of Sri Lanka’s athletics on the international stage.
