Drug stock to destroyed in Puttalam Today (27) following conclusion of legal proceedings

Sri Lanka Police have announced that a large stock of narcotics, seized during raids conducted by the Police Narcotics Bureau and later produced in court, is scheduled to be publicly destroyed today (April 27).

According to police, the destruction will take place at 9:00 a.m. at a incinerator facility located in Laktawatta, Wanathavilluwa, in the Puttalam area.

The stock of drugs had been taken into custody following legal proceedings concluded in the Balapitiya and Chilaw Magistrate’s Courts.

The consignment set for destruction includes approximately 22 kilograms and 888 grams of heroin, 33 kilograms and 172 grams of Kerala cannabis, and 247 kilograms and 940 grams of cannabis.

Police further stated that the narcotics would be transported under special security from the Balapitiya and Chilaw court premises to the incineration site before being destroyed.
