The investigation into the alleged cyber incident involving the diversion of a US$2.5 million foreign debt installment paid by Sri Lanka’s Treasury is progressing with new findings, according to Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne.
The Deputy Minister said that multiple new details have emerged through ongoing probes, while a coordinated digital security framework involving 37 key national institutions has already been established to strengthen cybersecurity.
The incident, which triggered widespread concern over the past several days, is being investigated through a multi-agency effort, including discussions held at the Ministry of Finance level. Sri Lankan authorities have also briefed the Australian government, and the Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka has stated that it is providing full support to the ongoing investigations.
Officials say further updates will be provided as the inquiry continues.
