A suspect transporting a stock of explosives concealed inside a cab has been arrested at the Kasagala entrance of the Southern Expressway.

The arrest was carried out by officers attached to the Sri Lanka Police during a routine inspection conducted by the Tangalle Police.

Police seized a significant quantity of explosives from the vehicle, including 14 kilograms of gunpowder, 240 gelatin sticks, 350 kilograms of ammonia, 490 detonators, and approximately 5,600 feet of detonating wire.

The suspect, a 57-year-old resident of the Mulkirigala area, was taken into custody.
