The government has initiated steps to update the existing procedure for leasing state-owned land to individuals for agricultural purposes.

According to Chandana Ranaweeraarachchi, Commissioner General of Lands, there is a need to amend the current circulars governing the leasing process.

An 11-member committee has been appointed to review the existing framework and propose necessary changes.

A revised circular is expected to be introduced in due course based on the recommendations of the committee.
