Australia assists Sri Lanka in probe into cyber breach

The Australian High Commission has confirmed that both its office and Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Finance are aware of a reported cyber intrusion into the computer system of the Department of External Resources, which operates under the Ministry of Finance, Economic Stabilization, and National Policies.

According to the statement, Sri Lankan authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are currently working in coordination with Australian officials, who are providing assistance to support the ongoing investigation.

The Australian High Commission further emphasized that Australia remains committed to supporting Sri Lanka’s efforts to restore debt sustainability and strengthen its economic recovery. The statement was also shared by the High Commission’s official Facebook account.

Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the scale of the breach or potential data loss. Investigations are ongoing.
