A special religious ceremony was held in Sri Lanka to honor Venerable Pannakara Thero, who visited the country as part of an international peace pilgrimage. During the event, a sacred sapling from the Sri Maha Bodhi was ceremonially offered to the visiting monk, symbolizing blessings of peace, unity, and spiritual connection between nations.

The occasion took place in a serene and respectful setting, attended by members of the Maha Sangha, government representatives, and a large number of devotees.

The offering of the Bodhi sapling holds deep religious significance for Buddhists, as it is considered a direct descendant of the tree under which Lord Buddha attained enlightenment.

Venerable Pannakara Thero expressed his gratitude for the honor, emphasizing the importance of promoting global peace and harmony through spiritual practices and international cooperation. He also noted that the sapling would be nurtured with great reverence and would serve as a living symbol of Sri Lanka’s contribution to world peace.

The ceremony concluded with blessings and chanting, reinforcing the shared hope for a more peaceful and compassionate world.
