Sri Lanka has received a donation of USD 100,000 from the Government of the Philippines to support recovery and rebuilding efforts following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

The cyclone affected the island during mid-January 2026, bringing days of heavy rainfall, strong winds, heavy landslides and flooding to several districts. The adverse weather caused damage to homes, infrastructure, and farmlands, while displacing many families and disrupting livelihoods.

The financial assistance was officially handed over to Vijitha Herath by Nina P. Cainglet.

Minister Herath expressed his appreciation to the Government and people of the Philippines for their timely support and solidarity during the country’s recovery process, in a message shared on  X ( formerly Twitter) social media account.
