Addressing the media in Colombo on yesterday (20), he claimed that certain individuals allegedly connected to the financial side of the attacks, including a National List figure referred to as Ibrahim, are not being properly investigated, while attention is being directed at others.
He further highlighted what he described as contradictions in the probe, noting the arrest of former minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan in relation to the attacks, while he is also facing court proceedings in a separate murder case.
Rajapaksa also stated that former intelligence chief Suresh Sallay had been questioned by authorities, and questioned the reliability of those leading the investigations.
He alleged that key intelligence warnings prior to the attacks had been disregarded by certain officials who are now involved in the inquiry.
Dismissing allegations against the Rajapaksa family, he said responsibility should rest with those directly linked to the attackers. He added that failure to take action against individuals suspected of funding the attacks undermines the credibility of the investigation.
He called for an impartial and transparent process to ensure justice is properly served.
