According to the Ministry of Education, Muslim schools have also begun the fourth stage of their first term today.
The previous phase of the first term ended on April 10, followed by the Sinhala and Tamil New Year holidays, which continued until April 19.
The newly commenced second term is scheduled to run until July 24, 2026.
Meanwhile, the Ministry announced that the distribution of school uniform materials for 2026 has been successfully completed. The fabric, provided as a grant by the Government of China, totaled 11.484 million metres and was allocated to students in government and government-assisted schools, as well as student monks, nuns, and those studying in Pirivenas.
The Ministry confirmed that uniform materials have been distributed to over 4.4 million students nationwide.
