Indian Vice President Visits Nuwara Eliya to inspect Indian-funded housing Project

Indian Vice President Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, who is on a two-day official visit to Sri Lanka, is scheduled to inspect Indian-funded housing projects in Nuwara Eliya today.

He is also expected to meet members of the Malaiyaha Tamil community and take part in religious observances at the Seetha Amman Temple.

The Vice President arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday and held discussions with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat. During the meeting, he reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in key sectors including the economy, education, health, tourism, investment, trade, energy security, and port development.

He also met Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

In addition, the Vice President held special discussions in Colombo with leaders of Sri Lankan Tamil political parties. Representatives of the Tamil Progressive Alliance, including Mano Ganesan, Palani Digambaram, and Bharat Arulsamy, as well as Ceylon Workers’ Congress leader Senthil Thondaman, participated in these talks.

Leaders from Tamil political parties representing the Northern and Eastern provinces also met the Vice President yesterday evening.

Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan is scheduled to conclude his visit and depart Sri Lanka later today.
