Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has emphasized the need to strengthen economic and trade relations between Sri Lanka and India following a series of constructive discussions aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation.

During the talks, Mr. Premadasa highlighted opportunities to deepen economic ties and unlock practical avenues for growth that could benefit both nations. He noted that enhanced collaboration in trade and investment could play a vital role in boosting economic resilience and creating new opportunities for citizens in both countries.

“Sri Lanka and India are not just neighbours we are true partners with shared history, shared challenges, and a shared future,” Premadasa stated. He stressed that the time has come for both nations to move forward with greater ambition, intent, and mutual trust.

The discussions are seen as part of broader efforts to reinforce regional partnerships and drive sustainable economic development through closer cooperation between the two South Asian nations.
