Sri Lanka’s Under-19 women’s team secured a narrow 3-run victory over Australia in a gripping encounter of the ongoing tri-nation T20 series on April 18.

Batting first, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 99 runs in 19.4 overs. Limansa Thilakarathna top-scored with 35 runs, while Pramudi Methsara contributed 21. Ira Aare was the standout bowler for Australia with figures of 3 for 19, supported by Amurora Mawers and Mia Barwick, who picked up two wickets each.

In response, Australia fell just short, being dismissed for 96 runs in 19.5 overs. Alyssa Dermody led their batting with 25 runs, while Shilia Julian added 17. Sri Lanka’s bowling attack delivered a strong performance, with Chamudi Prabodha claiming 3 for 22. Aseni Thalagune took 2 for 28, while Shashini Gimhaani and Limansa Thilakarathna also chipped in with two wickets apiece.

With this win, Sri Lanka remain unbeaten in the tri-series, having won all four matches they have played so far. The tournament features Under-19 women’s teams from Sri Lanka, England, and Australia, and Sri Lanka’s dominant run has made them the standout side of the competition.
