In a significant development, Kumara Jayakody, Minister of Power and Energy, and Prof. Udayanga Hemapala, Secretary to the Ministry, have tendered their resignations from their respective posts.

According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), both officials submitted their letters of resignation to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake earlier today (April 17).

The PMD stated that the decision was made to ensure an impartial and independent investigation by the Special Presidential Commission appointed to examine issues related to coal imports and electricity generation.
