The Sri Lanka Navy has discovered a large consignment of heroin hidden aboard a multi-day fishing trawler brought to the Dikovita Harbour earlier today.

According to naval officials, the vessel was intercepted in deep southern waters of the island during a special operation. Upon inspection, officers uncovered 150 packets of heroin concealed inside six sacks on board the fishing boat.

The trawler, along with four suspects, was escorted to the Dikovita Harbour this morning for further investigation. Authorities stated that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in Sri Lankan waters.

The suspects are expected to be handed over to relevant law enforcement agencies for legal proceedings, while investigations continue to determine the origin and intended destination of the nacotics shipment.
