The Sri Lanka Navy has taken into custody a multi-day fishing vessel suspected of transporting narcotics in deep-sea waters south of the country.

According to naval sources, the operation was carried out by long-range patrol vessels deployed in the region. During the অভিযান, four individuals on board the vessel were arrested on suspicion of involvement in illegal drug trafficking activities.

The seized vessel, along with the suspected narcotics, is currently being escorted to shore for further inspection and legal proceedings. Authorities have not yet disclosed the type or quantity of drugs recovered.

The Navy stated that additional details will be released following the completion of preliminary investigations. The operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb maritime drug smuggling in Sri Lankan waters.
