SriLankan Airlines suspends Bangkok country manager

SriLankan Airlines has suspended its Country Manager in Bangkok following a physical altercation with flight crew and a station manager at the city’s main international airport.

In a statement issued today (16), the airline said the incident occurred on April 2 at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, while SriLankan Airlines crew were preparing for passenger check-in.

According to the airline, the Country Manager entered the check-in area and became involved in a physical confrontation with the operating flight crew and the Station Manager.

The incident was immediately reported to airport police in Bangkok by company officials, and investigations are currently underway.

SriLankan Airlines described the actions of the Country Manager as “unlawful, unwarranted and in breach of company rules and regulations.”

The airline added that immediate steps were taken to suspend the official from service and instruct him to return to Sri Lanka.
