The U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka has issued a strong reminder to foreign nationals planning to visit the United States, cautioning that reliance on taxpayer-funded public benefits could lead to serious consequences.

According to the embassy, non-immigrant visa holders who misuse or become dependent on public assistance risk having their visas revoked.

The embassy further warned that such violations may also make individuals ineligible for future visas, potentially preventing them from re-entering the United States.

“Make sure you’re prepared to pay your own way when visiting the United States,” the embassy stated.
