Prisons Media Spokesperson, Commissioner A.C. Gajanayake, stated that this special arrangement was implemented over two days, yesterday (April 13) and today (April 14).
Accordingly, the opportunity has been extended to all prisons across the country, in line with the guidelines issued by the Department of Prisons.
Furthermore, relatives visiting inmates are permitted to provide each prisoner with a parcel containing food or sweets, along with a separate parcel of essential sanitary items, within the approved limits.
The initiative aims to allow inmates to celebrate the festive season with their loved ones while maintaining proper regulations within prison facilities.
