A shipment of furnace oil required for electricity generation has arrived in Sri Lanka, strengthening the country’s fuel reserves for power production.

Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Managing Director Mayura Neththikumara stated that a vessel carrying 30,000 metric tons of furnace oil reached the country on April 12.

He added that the transfer of furnace oil to Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Ltd. in Kolonnawa has already begun.

Authorities noted that the shipment is expected to help ensure stable furnace oil availability for electricity generation amid ongoing energy supply management efforts.

The arrival comes as part of continued efforts to maintain adequate fuel stocks for power plants and support uninterrupted electricity supply across the country.
