The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka said that it will exclude additional costs arising from the ongoing coal situation when revising electricity tariffs.

In an official statement, the Commission said that only reasonable costs incurred in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity will be considered in future tariff adjustments.

The PUCSL further noted that during the most recent tariff revision, it did not approve any additional expenses linked to the coal situation or other unreasonable expenditures.

The Commission has unanimously decided to continue this approach, confirming that any extra costs stemming from the coal issue or other unfair expenses will be excluded from all future electricity tariff revision proposals.
