In a statement made in Parliament today (April 9), Nalinda Jayatissa announced that the discussion scheduled with the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) will not take place as planned.

The Minister stated that the ongoing strike action is being carried out by a small group with political motives, and urged that such activities be halted immediately.

He further called on newly appointed medical officers, who are expected to assume duties starting today, to report to work without fear. The Minister assured that necessary security measures would be provided to ensure their safety.

The situation highlights growing tensions within the healthcare sector, as authorities attempt to maintain uninterrupted medical services while addressing concerns raised by medical professionals.
