The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed a powerful rally today, with key indices recording significant gains amid heightened investor activity.

The benchmark All Share Price Index (ASPI) climbed by an impressive 885.14 points, marking a 4.21% increase to close at 21,917.60 points. This surge reflects strong buying interest across multiple sectors, signaling renewed market confidence.

Turnover for the day reached Rs. 6.61 billion, indicating robust trading volumes and active participation from both institutional and retail investors.

Meanwhile, the S&P SL20 index, which tracks 20 of the most liquid and large-cap companies, also posted notable gains. It rose by 257.68 points, or 4.42%, to close at 6,090.50 points.

Market analysts attribute the sharp uptick to improved investor sentiment and positive momentum in blue-chip stocks, although they advise cautious optimism in the near term.

Overall, today’s performance underscores a strong bullish trend in the Sri Lankan equity market, with investors closely watching for sustained growth in the coming sessions.
