Under the new measures, a concession of Rs. 100 per litre for diesel and Rs. 20 per litre for petrol will be provided for a period of three months starting from May. The government has allocated Rs. 60 billion to implement the fuel subsidy programme.
The fisheries sector will also benefit from targeted support, with fishermen set to receive an additional Rs. 50 per litre fuel concession. Furthermore, a grant of Rs. 150,000 will be provided for each fishing trawler.
In addition, the government will increase payments for beneficiaries of the Aswesuma scheme for the month of April. Those currently receiving Rs. 17,500 will be paid Rs. 25,000, while Rs. 10,000 beneficiaries will receive Rs. 15,000.
