Addressing a recent meeting, the Minister stated that the Sri Lanka Police Special Task Force (STF), along with the Colombo Police Division in certain instances, has been authorized to carry out operations beyond their usual jurisdictions.
He explained that such measures would apply in situations where the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of a particular area does not act despite receiving relevant information.
“If the OIC in charge of a particular area has failed to act despite getting information, then we have permitted the STF and, in some instances, the Colombo Police Division, to conduct raids in other Police Divisions. Such raids are continuing. There are no obstacles,” the Minister said.
Minister Wijepala further emphasized that Police are now allowed to carry out raids in any Police Division at any time under these provisions.
