The upgraded facility introduces a range of improved passenger amenities aimed at enhancing the overall public transport experience. Among the key additions is a newly established information centre designed to provide better guidance and support for commuters.
According to officials, the ground floor of the bus stand will function as the main terminal area, facilitating smoother bus operations and passenger movement. The first floor has been dedicated to rest facilities for drivers and conductors, along with a newly set up security office to ensure the safety of the premises.
The second floor houses the Pettah Central Bus Stand Operational Office and the Regional Office of the Sri Lanka Transport Board. In addition, this level includes a conference hall, an auditorium, and a storage-equipped room to support administrative and operational activities.
The renovation project is expected to significantly improve efficiency, safety, and comfort at one of Colombo’s busiest transport hubs, benefiting thousands of daily commuters.
