Child Abuse Complaints Surpass 10,000 Last Year; 2,000 Cases Involve Severe Abuse

Sri Lanka’s National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) has reported that the number of complaints received last year exceeded 10,000.

According to Shanika Malalgoda, Director of Planning and Information at the NCPA, approximately 2,000 of these complaints were related to cases of severe child abuse.

The authority highlighted the seriousness of these figures, emphasizing the urgent need for stronger child protection measures and increased public awareness to safeguard children across the country.
