Train services along the Northern Railway Line from Colombo Fort Railway Station to Kankesanturai Railway Station are set to fully resume from April 9, the Railway Department announced.

According to an official statement, operations will recommence following the successful completion of renovation work on the հատված of the railway line that was damaged by Cyclone Ditwah.

The Department further noted that seat reservation facilities have already been made available from April 5. Reservations are now open for the train departing Mount Lavinia Railway Station at 5:15 a.m. bound for Kankesanturai, as well as for the intercity express service departing Kankesanturai at 1:50 p.m. towards Mount Lavinia.

Railway officials stated that the restoration of services will significantly improve connectivity between the Northern region and the capital, benefiting daily commuters and long-distance travelers alike.
