The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced a 12-hour water cut affecting the Padukka area and its surrounding localities, starting from 8:00 p.m. today (April 5) until 8:00 a.m. tomorrow (April 6).

In an official statement, the NWSDB said the decision was taken due to a significant drop in water levels at the Labugama and Kalatuwawa reservoirs, which supply water to the treatment plants serving the region. As a result, water production at the Labugama and Kalatuwawa Water Treatment Plants has been limited.

The Board further noted that the decline in reservoir levels has been caused by prevailing dry weather conditions, reducing the capacity to maintain a consistent water supply.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to store an adequate amount of water in advance and use it sparingly during the disruption period. The NWSDB also assured that efforts are being made to restore normal supply as soon as possible once reservoir levels stabilize.

Authorities urge the public to remain patient and cooperate during this temporary interruption.
