Sri Lanka’s tourism sector continued its steady recovery, with 183,979 international visitors arriving in March 2026, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

The latest data shows that India remained the leading source market, contributing 47,533 tourists, which accounts for approximately 26% of total arrivals for the month.

Other key source markets included:

The United Kingdom with 18,092 visitors

Russia with 15,685 visitors

China with 14,064 visitors

Germany with 13,429 visitors

France with 8,359 visitors

Cumulatively, Sri Lanka welcomed 740,634 tourists between January 1 and March 31, 2026, reflecting a positive trend in international travel demand to the island.

Tourism officials view these figures as a strong indication of continued growth, particularly with rising interest from both regional and long-haul markets.
