The association states that this decision has been taken in protest against what it describes as an unfair and arbitrary transfer process implemented by the authorities.
GMOA representatives claim that medical officers have been subjected to serious injustice due to bias and the failure to follow standard procedures in the transfer of doctors.
The strike is expected to impact services at government hospitals islandwide. The association further noted that a decision regarding the continuation of emergency treatment services will be announced in due course.
The GMOA also warned that if authorities fail to provide a prompt solution to the issue, trade union action may be intensified in the coming days.
