Sri Lanka will not be impacted by the powerful earthquake that struck eastern Indonesia this morning (02), according to the Disaster Management Center (DMC).

Director of the DMC, Pradeep Kodippili, stated that there is no tsunami threat or impact to Sri Lanka following the seismic event.

A strong earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale was reported in eastern Indonesia earlier today. The tremor prompted tsunami warnings for regions located within a 1,000-kilometre radius of the epicenter.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii also issued a tsunami warning following the earthquake.

However, Sri Lankan authorities have assured that the country remains safe, with no risk of tsunami effects from the incident.
