Top achievers announced for 2025 GCE A/L Examination

The Department of Examinations Sri Lanka has officially released the names of the top-ranking students of the 2025 General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level Examination, highlighting exceptional academic performances across all major subject streams.

According to the results, students from a diverse range of schools across the country secured top honors, reflecting both regional representation and academic excellence.

Biological Science Stream

1st Place: Dilan Sanjana (Royal College, Colombo)

2nd Place: Krishan Sasidu Namthara (Taxila Central College, Horana)

3rd Place: Darshana Konesh (Sri Shanmuga Hindu Ladies’ College, Trincomalee)

Physical Science Stream

1st Place: Devendan Thirukumaran (Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalaya)

2nd Place: Tharusha Gimhana Gamlath (Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala)

3rd Place: Vinura Prasad de Mel (Sri Sumangala Boys’ College, Panadura)

Commerce Stream

1st Place: Subaideen Mohamed Fardhan (Kattankudy Central College)

2nd Place: Senadi Dihasna Sumanasekara (Musaeus College, Colombo)

3rd Place: Dileepa Sandaras Karunaratne (Bandaranayake College, Gampaha)

Arts Stream

1st Place: Achintha Mihiranga Rathnayake (Wayamba Royal College, Kurunegala)

2nd Place: Aaliyah Zainab (Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo)

3rd Place: Methusari Dinethya Ranatunga (Musaeus College, Colombo)

Engineering Technology Stream

1st Place: Heshan Anujaya Wanigasooriya (Bandaranayake College, Gampaha)

2nd Place: Sithija Dulan Bandara (Vijayaba National School, Mahawa)

3rd Place: Riween Winsara (C.W.W. Kannangara Maha Vidyalaya, Matugama)

Bio Systems Technology Stream

1st Place: Ishani Manodha (Bandaranayake Central College, Veyangoda)

2nd Place: Vihanga Imasha Kandearachchi (Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha)

3rd Place: Jayathma Amandi Wijesinghe (Ibbagamuwa Central College)

Speaking on the overall performance, Commissioner General of Examinations A.K.S. Indika Kumari Liyanage announced that 62.64% of candidates who sat for the 2025 A/L examination have qualified for university entrance.

This year’s results mark a significant milestone, showcasing strong academic achievement despite ongoing challenges in the education sector. Education authorities have commended both students and educators for their dedication and resilience.
