The Commissioner General of Examinations, A.K.S. Indika Kumari Liyanage, has announced that the key national examinations in 2026 are expected to be conducted as scheduled without any changes.

Sri Lanka plans to hold 2026 National Examinations on scheduled dates

She made this statement during a media briefing held yesterday (March 31), following the release of the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination results.

The Commissioner General noted that the examination dates for 2026 had already been announced in September last year. She advised students to organize and continue their academic activities in line with those predetermined dates.

She further highlighted that frequent changes to examination schedules in recent years had caused significant difficulties for students. Therefore, efforts are being made this year to strictly adhere to the announced timetable.

Meanwhile, the practical examinations for the 2025 G.C.E. Ordinary Level are scheduled to take place from April 22 to April 30. It was also revealed that the first phase of evaluation has already been completed.

The second phase of evaluation commenced today (April 1), while the third phase is expected to begin on April 30.

According to the official schedule, the 2026 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination will be held on August 9, the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination on August 10, and the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination on December 8.
